How to practise rock climbing?

Rock Climbing is a fantastic sport which can work many parts of the body. You can climb walls in a gym, in a hall or outdoors, all of which will set you different challenges.

Beginning

ALWAYS CONSULT A GP BEFORE TAKING PART IN ANY EXERCISE Rock climbing is a great sport. You can climb solo when doing things like bouldering, which is climbing on low level rock faces finding routes from A to Z using different hand and foot holds with no rope. You can also climb indoors alone using the inertia reels available in some climbing halls. Rock walls can give you all the experience of climbing without the elements causing any issues. However, when it comes to climbing safely on a larger scale, it is always best to climb in pairs or as a team. The first place to start isn't actually how to climb but it's how to be safe. Learning how to belay someone effectively is essential if climbing in pairs. It is essential you learn how to tie the knots and belay correctly as you have the climber's safety in your hands. IF YOU'RE NOT SURE, SPEAK TO A PROFESSIONAL AT A LOCAL CLUB. THEY WILL BE MORE THAN WILLING TO TEACH YOU THE SAFEST WAY TO BELAY YOUR CLIMBING PARTNER UP AND DOWN A WALL

How to climb

There are many facets to good climbing technique. As a climber you have to have good leg strength as well as arm strength and obviously good grip too. When you're working hard there's a good chance your hands will sweat which is why you see climbers using chalk bags. They use the chalk to dry their hands out and give them more grip on the wall. When you start out climbing you'll notice your arms probably get tired very quickly. This is due to not only lack of stamina in your arms, but also due to your putting too much effort into pulling yourself up the wall rather than pushing your way up using your legs. If you're really keen to learn the perfect technique, then speak to a member of the climbing team at your local club or perhaps take part in a climbing course where you'll learn to climb and also understand everything else connected to it.
Tips for climbing: Always safety first Ask questions from everyone about things you're not sure of. Everyone's very friendly and willing to help. Get a chalk bag and chalk - you'll find it a great investment. Try to climb with a friend: it'll be more fun and a bit of competition never hurts anyone. Have Fun
