How to put videos on iPod nano?

Even though they have smaller screens, newer generations of the Apple iPod Nano (starting with the third generation) can play videos. Adding videos to your iPod is easy once you have added them to iTunes. You can download videos from the iTunes store or you can import videos from your computer into iTunes.

Download videos into iTunes

Before you can put videos on your Nano, you need to learn how to download movies to your iPod. The instructions for downloading videos are the same as downloading music and podcasts. Open iTunes, and go to the iTunes store. Search for the video you want, and buy it. Even if the video is free, you still need to go through the steps of buying it. The video will download automatically and go into the video play list. If you need to change the settings for your video playback, read Apple's video instructions in their manual.

Import videos to iTunes

You can put movies on your iPod by moving them from your computer to iTunes. If you have a non-copyrighted movie, such as a family video, you can import the video into iTunes. In iTunes, choose to import a file. Then, go to My Computer and browse for the video. You will then click "add to library" so that iTunes can import the movie and you can thus copy movies to your iPod. You can also add videos from DVDs and CDs by browsing to the CD/DVD drive.

Add videos to your Nano

After you have learned how to put videos on your iPod, you can transfer the videos to your Nano. Attach your Nano to your computer with the iPod cable or with the iPod dock. Your iPod will start syncing with iTunes.

ITunes will sync videos

If you have enough space on your iPod, purchased videos will automatically be added to your play list. If you do not have enough space, iTunes will give you a warning message and you will have to clear the space on your iPod.

Put video files on your iPod playlist

You can add video files by dragging them from the iTunes play list to your iPod play list. This is how you will move any home movies or converted movies to your iPod. You would be required to have a small, compressed movie to transfer a DVD file to your iPod. They may take up a lot of space. You can look at the Apple iPod Manual online to troubleshoot any problems you have with your iPod Nano setup, related to "how to put dvds on iPods" and also basic apple iPod instructions.
