Reviewing the Subaru Liberty

The Subaru Liberty, closely associated with the Subaru Legacy with which it is also brought , is the popular car from the Japanese car company Subaru. This article will give a review of the car.

The Subaru Liberty brand

The Subaru Liberty is a mid-size car that has been in construction in some form or another since its inception in 1989. It is generally marketed as a car for the lucrative mid-size car markets in Western countries, with notable competitors being the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. A few examples of the demographics of car buyers for which these legacy cars were predominantly aimed for, was that of Middle America or Middle England.

The Subaru Liberty's place within Subaru

The third generation The third generation followed in 1998 with the release, over five years of the Subaru Legacy GX Wagon (Europe), the Subaru Legacy Sedan, the 1998-2004 Subaru Legacy 2.0 GT-B E- Tune II Touring Wagon and the Subaru Legacy L Wagon (US). The fourth generation The fourth generation saw the release of the Subaru Liberty sedan, Subaru Liberty station wagon, Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT spec and the Subaru Legacy 2.5i PZEV sedan from 2003 to 2009. The current range The current range of the brand predominantly features the Subaru Legacy concept, the 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5i sedan (US) and the 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.0 Diesel Touring Wagon (Euro-spec).

Review of the Subaru Liberty

Taking one of the newer examples of the Subaru Liberty, it is generally regarded as being a good and reliable buy. It is solid, but unspectacular. Many motorists believe that it has a good engine (if not, turbo-charged), a strong body and body kit built around a good chassis. These serve to give a generally smooth ride and great longevity, but some cars can be found wanting against sports car in terms of acceleration. Thus, the Liberty is perhaps the wise choice for the businessman who wants a reliable car to make many trips, rather than the 'petrol-head' with a ‘need for speed’.
