The five worst airports in California

Airports in California have the distinction of being some of the worst in the country. From safety issues to lost luggage, and from poor customer service to scary airport landings, it would seem that California has it all. This article details out the five worst airports in California.

Los Angeles Airport (LAX)

In a recent survey conducted by J.D. Power & Associates, and published by USA Today, Los Angeles was rated as number three in the United States for worst airports. Passengers indicated the rates of lost luggage, poor customer service, and the huge amount of time to get through the security gates as top complaints. Low marks were also given for poor accessibility to LAX, and this category included LAX discount airport parking. There is no arguing with the fact that the Los Angeles Airport is overcrowded, and currently, a large portion of the airport is being remodeled, which only adds to the frustration felt by many passengers.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

San Francisco International Airport has long been an option to the overcrowded conditions experienced at LAX. However, recently a survey showed that the SFO International Airport does not fare much better.
Low customer satisfaction San Francisco International ranked number 13 on the nation’s worst airport. Many of the same complaints incurred at Los Angeles were also incurred here, with customer satisfaction being one of the top issues among passengers.

San Jose International Airport (SJC)

This midsized airport appears to be suffering from some of the same issues which the large airports suffer from. Customer service, as well as airport accessibility, were poorly rated here. Driving in or out of the SJC has been described as a nightmare. The airport is lodged between two major highways and a large arterial road, and unless you are very knowledgeable of the airport’s layout, it is very difficult to navigate into.

San Diego International Airport (SAN)

San Diego International is not a bad airport. However, many passengers complain that there always seems to be construction work going on. Complains Complaints for this airport range from it being small to insufficient air conditioning. Other reviews show this airport as being one of the worst for baggage claim, as this process takes an extraordinary amount of time. Scary airport landings San Diego Airport has the unenviable title of been one of the most dangerous airports to land in. The airport is situated to a very close housing area, which sits on the bluffs overlooking the San Diego Bay. This requires the need for rapid descents to avoid collisions with buildings. Sacramento airport (SMF) As far as small airports go, this one is not too bad. The food choices are not numerous and the outdated look of the terminal needs some upgrading. Overall, this airport is acceptable.
