Types of light laptops

For people on the go, be it students or business professionals or all other types of people from different walks of life, having a laptop with them can be an essential part of everyday living. With that said, there can be nothing worse than carrying around a weighty laptop for many hours a day. Here, I shall be looking at different types of light laptops.

Why go for a light laptop?

Many people might question the benefits of having a light laptop. For those who will be mainly carrying their laptop from the home to the workplace or school, then this might not be much of an issue. However, when you have to do much traveling whilst taking your laptop with you, then the advantages of a lighter machine can become pretty apparent.
Isn't lightness going to compromise on features though? Whilst the earlier pioneering light laptops might have made certain compromises in terms of power and internal storage, this is becoming less and less. Indeed, it could be argued that within the next few short years, all new laptops will be taking on the lightness form factor as standard.

Types of light laptops

Thin and light PC notebooks
There are a number of laptops out now that feature a thin and light form factor. The way this has been achieved is usually through a number of design innovations. For example, gone are the traditional hard disk drives which had internal, physical working to be more commonly replaced with solid-state drive. As SSDs do not have any physical moving parts, this has also led manufactures to include a smaller, thinner battery into the machine which decreases weight.
Netbooks as an option For people whom weight is really a deciding factor but power isn't such an issue, a netbook might well be for you. Whilst these typically have a much smaller screen than a pro laptop and often come with a scaled down operating system, these can be fine for people wishing to use it for simple tasks such as browsing the web or for sending and receiving emails. Screen size When choosing a light laptop, screen size can be a major factor in the weight. Not only will a larger screen be physically heavier but there will often be a larger battery fitted to be able to power the larger screen, thereby contributing to the total weight of the system.
