When should UK citizens apply for a passport?

If you want to obtain a UK passport, you should be a British citizen, a British overseas territories citizen, a British national (overseas), a British overseas citizen, a British subject or a British protected person. When to apply for a UK passport?

But if the child is expected to become 16 before the passport issuance, he or she should apply as though he or she is 16 years old and submit an adult fee along with your passport application to the Identity and Passport Service.
