Where to purchase printer ink cartridges

If there is one noticeable thing about ink-jet printers, it is their voracious appetite for ink. As such trying to replace ink cartridges as cheaply as possible must be high on most peoples list of priorities. While they are available all over the place, where are the best places to purchase ink cartridges?

High Street

Of the two main choices for purchasing ink the high street has the big bonus of being convenient and immediate. With that the prices can be higher but it does mean your important print jobs can continue with minimum interruption. While it is tempting to go straight to the first shop you see, it is well worth shopping around. Prices change all the time and there are a lot of options to choose from. The three main choices are refilling, recycled and brand new brand name. Each has there own advantages and disadvantages. Refilling is the cheapest option and generally an excellent choice for your black and white cartridges. Colour on the other hand can cause problems, with the ink being used at a slower rate some cartridges can have a tendency to clog up. This is especially true of those cartridges, so as HP inkjet cartridges from HP, which include the nozzles in the cartridge As such for HP, and possibly others, the best option is to buy a brand new colour cartridge. This is where the shopping around is vital, the refilling market stalls can be competitively priced, PC world and similar stores on the slightly pricey side. Other places to consider include Maplins, who seem well priced, WHSmiths and Ryman.

Online

Buying ink online can be cheaper than the high street but not always. The first piece of advice if looking for best value for money is to know the high street costs first, do not just assume. Then it is time to shop around. The obvious stores include Amazon and ebay and they can often provide the best prices. Other good choices include online stationary and office supply stores. Recycled and new cartridges are both available online and the same considerations about which to buy should come into play when shopping online. While buying online saves money, it does not have the immediacy of buying from the high street and you do not have the option to recycle your old cartridges in the same way.
