Marian Catholic

I'm a certified EFL teacher who is presently teaching at an international school in Uzbekistan. In my spare time, I like to dabble in Catholic theology and Biblical exegesis. I hold a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto. My profile photo was taken by a fellow pilgrim at the Chapel of the Apparitions in the sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal.

Put on the New Self

Put on the New Self

Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit. Psalm 50, 12-14 You should put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renew
Blessed Are You Who Believed

Blessed Are You Who Believed

Already you knew my soul; my body held no secret from you when I was being fashioned in secret and moulded in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw all my actions; they were all of them written in your book; every one of my days was decreed before one of them came into being. Psalm 139, 14-16 “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to
God Saw that It Was Good

God Saw that It Was Good

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. Genesis 1, 31 I believe it’s safe to assume that all Christians believe God is sovereign over all things, and that the fall of Adam and Eve didn’t catch God by surprise. Nor did Satan in the form of a serpent deceive
The Assumption of the Virgin Mary

The Assumption of the Virgin Mary

Arise, Lord, come to your resting place, you and your majestic ark. Psalm 132, 8 My lover speaks; he says to me, Arise, my beloved, my beautiful one, and come! For see, the winter is past, the rains are over and gone. Songs 2, 10-11 “Behold, from henceforth, all generations shall call me blessed; for the Almighty has done great things for me, and
All Generations Shall Call Me Blessed

All Generations Shall Call Me Blessed

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, and my soul shall be joyful in my God: for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation: and with the robe of justice he hath covered me, as a bridegroom decked with a crown, and as a bride adorned with her jewels. Isaiah 61, 10 At that time, I will bring you home, at the time when I will gather you together

He Knew Her Not Until

He Knew Her Not Until

And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus. Matthew 1, 25 Most Protestants who deny the Perpetual Virginity of Mary and wish to believe that Mary and Joseph had conjugal relations and children of their own after the birth of Jesus, often cite Matthew 1:25 as a proof-text against this ancient Catholic
Behold Thy Mother

Behold Thy Mother

And thou shalt say in thy heart: Who hath begotten these? I was barren and brought not forth, led away, and captive: and who hath brought up these?
