Early career
Bosco Wong was born on 13 December 1980, as he grew up he dreamt of becoming a chef, but life took him in a completely different direction, towards the entertainment industry. Bosco’s entertainment career began in 1998 when he was spotted on the street by a talent-recruiter, which led him to his first TV appearance in a lemon tea commercial, which also featured Cecilia Cheung. The commercial made TVB notice him and recruiters offered him further opportunities although Bosco insisted that he finished high school first. After graduating from high school in 1999, Bosco auditioned into TVB at the tender age of 19. For his first few years in TVB, Bosco spent a lot of his time as a host for a variety of TVB programmes and he occasionally played cameo roles in various series.
Growth of his career
Bosco’s debut came in 2003, when he played a minor role in the TVB youth drama series “Aqua Heroes”. In the same year, Bosco went on to play bigger roles in other TVB series such as the modern drama “Triumph in the Skies” and an ancient series “Find The Light”, he also played the title role in “Wong Fei Hung - Master of Kung Fu” in 2004. In 2005, Bosco made his mark as a dramatic and comedic actor in the popular series “Wars of In-Laws” where he worked alongside Myolie Wu, and Hong Kong acting legend Liza Wang. “Wars of In-Laws” received very high ratings and increased Bosco’s popularity; it earned him TVB’s Most Improved Actor Award of the year in late 2005. He was also awarded TVB’s Most Popular On-Screen Couple Award along with Myolie Wu. Bosco’s performance in “Dicey Business” earned him even more exposure and recognition as a rising, young actor. In October 2008, Bosco developed his career further by signing a singing contract with East Asia Music and he released his debut EP in December of the same year.
