History The Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) was established in 1966 and in the following year, it held its first classes with 101 students and a faculty of eight instructors. In January of 2005, the college transferred to a 71-acre facility which features nine buildings. The college can accommodate up to 9,000 students. Admission requirements A student has to meet at least one of the three general admission requirements of the Bossier Parish Community College before he can be considered by the school. These requirements are: - Have finished high school in an learning institution which has been duly accredited by an agency recognised by the region
- Have completed a General Education Development diploma
- Or is past the age of compulsory school attendance and has met the pre-determined criteria on the BPCC Ability to Benefit test. Academic programs The College offers an array of academic opportunities and boasts of 28 associate degrees, 16 technical/certificates diplomas, and over 30 technical competency and transfer courses. It also offers a number of Interned-based courses and associate degrees. The school also has a program for adults who are already working but wish to go back to school. Students in BPCC's Working Adults Support Program can choose between fast-track online courses and traditional degree programs. Qualified individuals under the program can also apply for scholarships. Non-degree programs Apart from degree courses, the college also offers continuing education courses, corporate training seminars, and GED preparatory review classes.
