A guide to Rush University
Rush University is integrated within Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Founded back in 1972, the university is made up of the Rush Medical College, Rush University College of Nursing, Rush University College of Health Science, and the Graduate College of Rush University.
Academics
The university's campus is located on an eight acre site on Chicago's Near West Side.
Programs
Rush University offers students the choice of Certificate Programmes, Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degree programmes throughout its four different colleges.
Rush Medical College offers PhDs in medicine, the College of Nursing offers Master's and PhDs in nursing.
The Graduate College teaches a wide array of Master's and PhD programmes in everything from anatomical sciences to pharmacology.
The College of Health Sciences gives students the choice of all Bachelor's and Master's programmes in subjects ranging from clinical laboratory sciences to speech language pathology.
Campus
Housing
Rush University housing comes in the form of Centre Court Gardens which is located on Harrison Street.
The halls of residence consists of 280 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
All come unfurnished, although modern appliances are included along with central heating and air conditioning units.
Utility bills are not included in the rent.
Recreation
Students at Rush University have access to the Union Station Fitness Formula Centre at reduced membership rates.
The centre is a modern state-of-the-art facility which includes a swimming pool, basketball courts, fitness centre, cardio equipment, weights rooms and spa area.
In addition, students can also make use of the facilities at Chicago Illinois Sports and Fitness Centre, which is part of the University of Illinois Medical Centre.
The facility includes a gym, running track, racquet ball courts, cardio area and strength training equipment and is located at South Wolcott, lower level.
Organisations
The university has more than 30 active organisations that students can take part in. They range from sports clubs like the Running Club to humanitarian groups like Physicians for Human Rights and Physicians for Social Responsibility.
Careers Service
The Office of Student Affairs acts as a careers service for Rush students.
The office helps with CV writing techniques, personal statements and provides mock interviews.
Career development workshops are also provided on a regular basis.
