The importance of learning how to deal with people
Every individual has distinct characters unique to them. For an organisation to get through and realise its goals, the different characters must be harnessed so that everyone works in harmony with the rest. Failure to do this, divisions will occur between employees, bosses and the goal of the organisation may not be met.
The most difficult types of people to deal with include the controlling people, manipulative people, angry people and the negative people. One must come up with principles to deal with such characters for harmony to prevail.
Core principles of dealing with people
These are required by anybody who is bound to come into contact with other people. Since no man is an island, then it is vital for anyone to learn the following principles of dealing with people: in the work place, community, at home etc.
Acceptance
Accept people as they are before attempting to correct them. If you feel that they have weak points, tell them in a calm and elaborate way. The manner in which you pass your worries should not indicate your anger, but it should express the much concern that you have for that person.
Appreciation
Anybody would like to be appreciated for their good deeds. People will despise you if you never find it important to appreciate what somebody else has done. Appreciation creates morale and boosts a good relationship between two people.
Motivation
It is easier to encourage people to work hard by motivating them rather than by commanding and controlling. Motivation includes enticing people with gifts for the overall best in a given task. This encourages fair competition and a sense of responsibility.
Development
Make chances available for self-development to the people whom you are handling. Allowing people to develop themselves and do things in their way creates a notion of responsibility and commitment. It does not help in having manipulative behaviour towards your subjects.
Promote positivity
Negative attitude towards people makes them withdraw from you. It is also important to learn how to deal with negative people as hatred can develop: hindering good communication and breaking cordial relationships. It is also vital to learn how to hold anger and temper as much as possible. This is one weak point where things can be spilt, never to be recollected again.
