The beginning biography and rise of Brooks and Dunn

Ronnie Dunn, born in Texas, and Leon “Kix” Brooks, born in Louisiana, had different upbringings that brought them together. Background of Brooks and Dunn Leon Brooks sang with the country legend, Johnny Horton’s daughter at a young age and soon found a talent for singing. In the late 1980s, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in the hopes of becoming famous. Dunn also enjoyed country music whilst young, but in truth, he wanted to be a Baptist Minister. After being expelled from a Baptist college for playing music in bars, he moved to Tennessee to find fame as a country music artist. Brooks and Dunn finally meet While singing one night in a bar, for a song-writing competition, the two came face to face. Little did they know that the musical executive Tim Dubois was also eyeing them. At first, Ronnie Dunn wanted to pursue a country music career with a relative and with the name Dunn and Dunn. However, once Dubois heard the rhythm between Brooks and Dunn, he signed the two on a contract together.

The music of Brooks and Dunn today

It wasn’t long before “Brooks n Dunn” became a hit with fans. With their 1991 first album, 'Brand New Man', the duo’s popular songs topped the country's charts. Some of these recording singles included “Neon Moon” and “My Next Broken Heart.” The duo’s début record made Brooks and Dunn superstars, impressively selling more than five million copies. Brooks and Dunn’s next album: 'Hard Workin' Man' The duo’s next album, 'Hard Workin’ Man', heightened their fame further with several hit Brooks n Dunn songs, such as “She used to be mine.” The duo’s country music led to a rise in line dancing that swept across bars all over the English world. The two went on to make more successful albums and songs, earning them a wide fan base. Another record in 1994, 'Waitin’ on Sundown', even went double platinum hence, proving that Brooks n Dunn would go down in English history as two renowned country music stars. The legacy of Brooks and Dunn Whilst Brooks and Dunn weren't able to become famous as solo artists, together they were truly successful. Their popular songs live on in the present. The duo remains two of the greatest country stars of the 1990s, from their honky-tonk beats to their earthy and deep voices.
