History

Originally constructed by Marathon Realty and Husky Oil in 1967 and opened for the public in June 1968, it was the symbol of Canada’s centennial. From its construction in 1967 until 1971, it was named the Husky Tower. In 1971, it was renamed the Calgary Tower. Since then, the Calgary Tower is by far the most famous and known landmark of the city of Calgary and of the wider area as well.
