Should you buy a new charger or a battery?

2. You want to check the voltage
A different voltage written on the computer with the charger will either blow your computer's motherboard or not give you enough power. In either way, it will damage your computer. You just have to make sure that you look through a lot of HP power supplies and find the right one or else you will definitely suffer the consequences. There are some Compaq laptop chargers or other brands that will work with your laptop, but make sure that you consider the two points I mentioned above.
