A guide to make-up application

Face make-up, when done correctly, can drastically help to improve a person’s look. It can diminish the flaws on a person’s skin and it can make just about anyone photogenic. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to put on facial make-up. This article will help readers learn how to apply make-up in a simple and painless way.

Prepping the face

Wash face The most important make-up tip to remember is to always start by washing the face. Make-up application is a type of art form. Therefore, it is best to start on a clean slate. Moreover, washing the face before applying make-up will help in preventing the skin from breaking out. Moisturise Once the face has been cleaned, the next thing to do is to apply moisturiser and sunscreen. The moisturiser will prevent the face from being too dry and the sunscreen will protect the skin from the sun. Make sure the sunscreen has at least an SPF of 50 in order to really be effective. Apply primer Once the moisturiser and sunscreen has had enough time to dry, it is time to apply the primer. A foundation primer will help make it easier to apply the make-up and it will help the make-up to stay on for a longer period of time.

Make-up application

Apply foundation After the facial primer has had enough time to air dry, the next thing to do is to apply the make-up foundation. Use a colour that matches the skin tone for best results. Use concealer Once the foundation has been applied, it is time to dab on the make-up concealer. Make-up concealer should be dabbed on any skin area that is red and also under the eyes and around the nose. Apply blush Use a brush to apply blush on the cheek’s apple. This is best done while the person is smiling. The eyes Use an eye-liner to line the eyes. Then add eye shadow. Finally, use mascara to finish the eyes. Colour the lips Apply lipstick or lip-gloss. Keep in mind that if a bright colour were used for the eyes, then the lip colour should be downplayed. Otherwise, use any colour that compliments the skin tone.
