A guide to online word processors

If you are using a computer that does not have word processing software, you can download Open Office for free. Online word processors are also available for free. Google Docs also is particularly good because you can store your documents in the Google cloud, share your documents with other Gmail users, and track changes in your word processing document.

First, you should be able to save your online documents as Microsoft Word documents. Microsoft Word is the standard office software for most people, and Open Office can read document files. You should be able to share your documents as e-docs, so you need to be able to at least email documents. Gmail Google docs is a free, powerful online office suite that includes word processing, spreadsheets, forms, presentations, software for online drawing. You need to sign up for a Google account, which you can do by signing up for Gmail. Google docs can be saved in a variety of formats, renamed, and printed. You can use Google docs to convert Microsoft Word documents into PDF files, and you can save, print, or distribute those files. You can share documents with people with whom you share a hyperlink, or you can keep documents private. You can also allow people to edit documents, own documents, or just read them. Google docs supports images being inserted in the documents, and there is a spellchecker. If you used Google Gears, you can use Google's word processing software offline.
