A guide to studying at the University of Houston-Clear Lake

The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) is a higher education institution based in Houston, Texas. It dates back to 1971 and today, has a total of more than 8,000 students enrolled on its courses. Throughout its four different academic faculties, it offers up 85 degree programmes - 40 Bachelor's, 44 Master's and one PhD.

Academics

Schools
The university is split into four different academic schools which include its School of Business, the School of Human Sciences and Humanities, the School of Science and Computer Engineering and the School of Education. Of these, the School of Business is the largest and awards the most degrees annually. Programme types
UHCL has a range of degree types on offer. At undergraduate level, it awards Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administrations and Bachelor of Social Work. While at postgraduate level, it has degrees in Master of Arts, Master of Sciences, Master of Business Administration, Master of Healthcare Administration, and Doctor of Education. Online programmes
As of 2008, the university has started to offer students the option of distance learning through its online degree programmes. This means that students can now complete degrees at the university no matter where in the world they are. As of 2011, the university offered 11 online programmes in Science, Business and Arts.

Campus

Housing
The university offers on-campus accommodation for those interested. University Forest student housing offers a range of one, two and four-bedroom apartments complete with fully fitted kitchen, study areas and gas and water rates included in the price. The community area includes a swimming pool, volleyball court, club house with wide screen TV and a laundry facility. In addition, UHCL has residential apartments throughout the Houston area for those who do not want to live on-campus. Services
In addition to housing, the university also has a fully stocked bookshop which sells not only textbooks, but clothing, gifts, computer soft and hardware as well as university supplies, such as paper, pens and other essentials. The campus is also home to the Patio Cafe which sells a range of foods from subs to English breakfasts and the Cappucino Bono cafe which sells coffees and snacks.
