Pleasant Valley High School is an American secondary education institution, serving Grades 10-12 (roughly ages 15 to 18). It is located in the state of Pennsylvania. It is a part of the Pleasant Valley School District, which is the largest employer within its immediate community. The school has enjoyed much athletic success over recent years.

History and location

Pleasant Valley High School is located in Monroe County, a county in north eastern Pennsylvania. The Pleasant Valley School District is large, and the high school's catchment area covers 120 miles. It enjoys the nearby Pocono Mountains as a nearby back-drop of stunning scenery, where there is a thriving recreation, and leisure industry, based largely on outdoor activities.
Motto and location
Established in 1960, the school's motto is "Excellence in Education: A Community Commitment." The school is officially located in the small settlement of Brodheadsville, PA, which is a Census Designated Place (CDP), with a population of around 1,600 people.

Rules and regulations There are over 2,000 students on the school's roll, all of whom are required to abide by a strict code of conduct. There are strict rules and regulations governing dress, with very specific definitions of what is, and is not acceptable, in terms of footwear and clothing, which must not be over-sized or baggy, in any way.
Strategic planning
The school has made forward strategic planning, a key part of its operations for the last twenty years or so. The School District embarked on the development of the strategic plan, required for compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) during the 2007/08 school year. This drives all areas of the school district's policy and operations.
Strategies of the plan Developed every six years, The Pleasant Valley School District Strategic Plan consists of six major strategies. This allows the District to realise its mission, providing co-ordination, as well as, focus on major School District operations throughout the period 2008 to 2014. Athletic success The school has enjoyed considerable athletic success in recent years. The wrestling and American football teams have achieved some particularly noteworthy things. The football has also relished a fierce rivalry with local rivals Pocono Valley High School. The baseball team also reportedly went unbeaten for a dozen or so years recently. Also, the school's mascot is a bear.
