All about "Cheech & Chong"

Cheech n Chong, as the comedy duo of Richard "Cheech" Marin and Tommy Chong, were a commonly known and widely successful stand up comedy career in the 1970's and 80's.

Cheech n Chong

Overview
The show centres around the hippie counterculture and marijuana and drug use. Below is an overview of their career together and each of their solo careers after parting ways in 1985. The music and comedy duo released several comedy albums in the 1970's, which they turned into a movie career, starting with 1978's Up In Smoke and including Cheech & Chong's Next Movie (1980), Nice Dreams (1981), and Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers (1984). After the release of their 1985 album Get Out Of My Room, Cheech Marin decided to separate himself from the duo's drug-use inspired reputation by pursuing a solo career.
The parting was contentious, and it would be many years before the two would work together again.

Richard "Cheech" Marin

Career
Marin's solo career began with a starring role in the movie Born In East L. A. and
has included roles in such movies as Tin Cup, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, From Dusk Till Dawn, and The Spy Kids Trilogy.
He also had a small appearance in Ghostbusters 2. Marin has also done a fair amount of voice over work for animated films including Oliver & Company, Cars, and The Lion King. His television career includes roles in Lost, Nash Bridges, Judging Amy, and the short lived Golden Girls spin off The Golden Palace. He has also released two best selling children's music albums.

Tommy Chong

Conclusion
After his split with Marin, Tommy Chong continued his career as a stand up comedian. His television career included recurring roles in That 70's Show and Dharma & Greg. He also made appearances in such shows as Nash Bridges, Miami Vice, and Sliders. He has done voice over work for South Park and The Simpsons.
In 2003, Chong was arrested for selling drug paraphernalia for his part in financing and supporting Chong Glass/Nice Dreams, a company started by his son. There is a fair amount of evidence that the illegal activity for which he reached a plea agreement to keep his son from having to spend time in prison, was actually committed by federal agents working undercover within the company. Ironically, the name of the federal operation which resulted in his arrest was Operation Headhunter. In 2006, Chong released the book The I Chong: Meditations From The Joint, detailing the experience.
