An introduction to APC batteries
When APC batteries are properly used with APC RBC7 batteries, the results can be very impressive economically and in terms of money and time saved. The wasteful tradition of throwing away APC UPS system because the battery is dead is effectively solved at a go as a result of the wisdom that lies behind the knowledge of replacement of APC battery packs. This article briefly describes APC UPS systems.
Taking out the battery from the UPS system
On your APC RBC7, lip the front plastic face downward and then lift it away. This will pull away the plastic face. Look at the cutout on one edge and start pulling it. Look behind the font face. You will see two screws on a metal plate. Flip down the metal to reveal the battery. Make sure that you put off your APC UPS system in case it is still powered.
Use a digital voltmetre to a certain voltage capacity of the new APC RBC7 battery
This battery must have the required amount of energy of not less than 12.55 v. If the voltage does not match this, do not use the battery. Simply take it back to the supplier. This is because the voltage has to meet the minimum requirement from the manufacturer so that the battery device may achieve its optimum performance.
Glue batteries together
Glue together your batteries. Follow the instructions on your user’s manual. Alternatively, you can choose to purchase an already glued and harness RBC7 replacement battery cartridges to make your work much easier. To use the glued ups batteries, simply turn on the UPS and pull the plug. Also, ensure that it runs the battery power. Then, calibrate the battery. After calibration, you will realise that the run time and capacity is clearly indicated. You should remember that when loading, The UPS should be loaded at between 30 to 50% of the total watt capacity rated.
Begin charging
The charging should be left to go on overnight. The UPS can now be put on service 15. Make a connection of a non-varying load to your UPS before you disconnect power on the UPS unit. Do not plug off power but simply switch off the circuit breaker. Let it run until it shuts off completely. This will take between 45 minutes to one hour. Finally, let the batteries to charge overnight. The batteries are then ready for use.
