Bank of Stockton: A review

The Bank of Stockton is a community bank based in Stockton, California which offers a wide range of services including Internet banking, text banking, personal banking services, individual retirement accounts, credit cards, personal car loans, student loans, home equity and mortgage loans, debit cards plus a full range of business banking services.

History

Founded in 1867 under the name of the Stockton Savings and Loan Society, the banks coffers were immediately bolstered with $100,000 worth of gold by the 29 men who started the company. The population of the town at this time was just 4,429. The Society was originally located in a shared building with the Union Copper Mining Company at 179 El Dorado Street, between the Main Street and Levee. Throughout the 1800s, the city of Stockton grew considerably and the banks fortunes grew with it. By the time the 20th century arrived, the bank had outgrown its premises at the McKee building and had moved to an eight story skyscraper on the corner of Main and San Joaquin Streets. In 1980, the bank acquired the Mid-Cal National Bank. This acquisition gave the Bank of Stockton branch representation throughout the San Joaquin County and the Bank of Stockton's first branch network was established.
