Calvin Klein U.K.: The facts

Calvin Klein is a famous brand all around the globe. It is known for its jeans, fragrance and underwear. Here is a history of the brand.

History

Calvin Klein was founded in 1968 by Calvin Klein. It was originally a coat shop in New York. Their first collection consisted of a line of men’s and women’s coats. In 1971, sportswear, classic blazers and lingerie were added to Klein’s womenswear. The business had originally been started with $10,000, and by 1977, its annual revenues increased to $30 million. By this point, Calvin had licenses for scarves, shoes, belts, furs, sunglasses and sheets. The company later signed licenses for cosmetics, jeans and menswear. In 1978, Klein claimed sales for 200,000 pairs of jeans the first week that they were on the market. In the 1980s, the infamous ck boxer shorts were introduced. After years of financial issues, Calvin Klein was sold to Phillips Van Heusen Corp. Francisco Costa is currently the creative director for Calvin Klein Collection for women. Italo Zucchelli collaborated with Calvin Klein for six seasons before he became the head designer for the menswear collection.
