Rackmount servers and rackmount PC’s are an efficient way to reduce clutter and increase manageability. They replace the heavy and cumbersome towers. They provide the same amount of power as a normal computer would. Moreover, they enable you to have a lot more servers or computers within a restricted amount of space. A rackmount enclosure can come in many different sizes. You can find enclosures from 1u to 42u where “1u” is equal to one unit, about 1.75 inches (44.45mm) wide. You must know the amount of space and the amount of rack-mountable equipment when choosing server cabinets. You don't need to buy 42u rack for only two servers. It would be a useless amount of space. You can always prepare for the future and have a couple of "u" open for future need. Everything depends on what you really need and how much you are willing to pay. There are rackmount cases available for those who need to transfer their current towers to their rack enclosure. They usually come in a 4u-size to accommodate the big parts of a tower. New and used rack cases can be found in any computer store. Remove clutter may be as easy as getting a data rack system. Always do your research before buying anything. Know what you want. Choose the right one for your needs, and enjoy your new, manageable server room.
