These types of services require you to install their software application on your computer. A modem is not necessary, however, but the computer must be online. You can also use your iPhone to send faxes using email. You need to use an Internet fax service, such as eFax, to send the fax from the iPhone. After you sign up for the fax service, you can send the fax through email. To do this, create the fax as a text on your iPhone. You then send the text using email and enter in the fax number of the recipient. You can also receive a fax back to your iPhone from the recipient.
