How to connect to wireless internet

Wireless internet connections allow you to connect to the internet without having to worry about connecting cables and plugs to your computer. These types of connections work best with WiFi enabled devices. Whether you are using a laptop, iPod or any other WiFi capable device, you can connect to wireless internet or WiFi internet service with the help of a few easy steps.

Check wireless network devices

In order to connect to wireless internet you will need to make sure that these wireless network devices have already been installed upon your computer. To check for these devices, go to the My Computer icon and right click on it. Scroll down to where it says Properties and click on that. Once it takes you to the Systems properties window select the tab that says Hardware then select Device manager. Go to where it says Network adaptors and double check to make sure that there is a device installed.

To begin the wireless network set-up, go to the start menu and click on where it shows the Control Panel. Now click on where it says Network and Internet connections. Then choose the Wireless network set-up wizard and click Next two times. Check the box that says Set-up network manually then choose Next again. Then finally click on where it says Finish.

Go to the control panel and click on Network connections and right click on the Wireless network connection again. Lastly, scroll down to where it says Properties and select that.

A wireless connection properties window will now open up that has a Wireless networks tab. Select that Wireless networks tab and this will show you a wireless network router that will help you to connect to wireless internet.

Choose a wireless connection

Select the View wireless networks button to see the networks that you can join. This will show you a list of secure and unsecure networks that will give you wireless access. Look for you network and once you see your network that matches your wireless network router, click on where it says Connect underneath it. If your network is secure you will have to enter the password that you have created for it. Wait a few seconds for your computer to connect to wireless internet.
