How to electronically change your voice
At some point in our lives, we've all wanted to change our voice. While it may be difficult to modify it in reality for the rest of your life, it is possible, with both software and hardware, to change your voice to dazzle your friends and family with your voice morphing abilities.

Free software
Thanks to the power of modern day computers, there are several pieces of software that can aid your voice editing ambitions. Screaming Bee's Free MorphVOX voice modifier allows you to apply effects to your voice, so you can sound like a man, a woman, or even a little person, in order to surprise or scare the people you talk to on your PC. Whether it's over VOIP, or a gaming platform, this free, low CPU tool is fantastic to disguise your voice with. If you'd rather use a more in depth voice editor, in order to take full charge of your voice's pitch, pause, and intonation, you can download freeware called Audacity, and add a variety of effects to your recorded voice in order to make your voice high, low, fast, slow, or even phase in and out between speakers!
Paid software
Although free software is all well and good, those looking for a more professional finish to their voice will probably want to select from a few voice changers that have more premium effects.
Audio4fun's AV Voice Changer Diamond is a more premium tool, costing around 99 dollars. Although it seems a rather steep price, the software yields high quality effects, and can be used both on VOIP programmes [such as Skype], and recording programmes. The software also comes with several sound effects, and even a 'role playing gadget' to aid you in virtual-life software such as Second Life, to make the whole experience seem more realistic.
ScreamingBee, whose free product was mentioned in the freeware section of this article, also has a premium voice converter, called MorphVOX Pro. This software, along with the functionality of your standard voice scrambler, gives you the chance to fake being at several different locations, with the use of their 'background noises feature'. This means that you, whilst on Skype, or indeed in a recording, can fool your friends into think that you're in a traffic jam, or at the mall, rather than being at home. As with AV Voice Changer Diamond, this software can be used with both recording and VOIP programmes.
Whether you've wanted to sound deeper or higher, these pieces of software are perfect for you. Use them to make parody videos, funny voiceovers, and maybe even the occasional fun voicemail message! Have fun!
