What is the maximum file size that I can send over emails?

If you take the three biggest Internet email providers namely Google, Yahoo, and Hotmail (Windows Live), you'll see that they all offer a maximum of 25 meg. This means that you can send or receive an email being 25megs or less, this doesn’t count as storage. There are other Internet providers that may offer more than this, but remember, if the recipient cannot receive more than a 25meg email, he or she will not receive your email.

What are my options?

Windows Live offers SkyDrive for online sharing. You get 25 GB of space with a 100meg per file size limit. If you are a Windows Live user, you already have access to this feature. All you have to do is to upload your files to your SkyDrive and tell your friends. Drawback One downside is that you can only share your files with your friend's list. 4shared.com
4shared.com is another file hosting solution. You get 10 GB of space with a two GB per file size limit. They provide an easy interface where you can simply upload your files securely. After, you just have to send the links by email. The recipient doesn’t need to login into the website to have access to your files.
SendSpace.com SendSpace.com gives you the chance to send an easy email to anybody across the world with a file size limit of 300meg. You don’t even have to sign up. Of course, there are more options available for anyone that signs up. This might be the perfect one-time solution. These options are just a glimpse of what you can use, and now with cloud computing, your options are endless. Emails are not the final answer, there is a million of ways to send large files around the world. Some services might be free, and some are not. You just have to use the beauty of the Internet and open your horizons.
