How to make your own cheap TV stand?
You just bought a large LCD TV and need somewhere to put it. Buying the television is the most important part. Now you need a large enough stand which will be ideal for the TV. Hopefully, your living room is large enough for the TV stand. If you are just looking for something large enough to accommodate the TV and not take up any unnecessary space, then you will no need to relocate.
What you will need
You will need shelves for a DVD player, a Bluray player and gaming console. You will also need to hide wiring. Visit your local hardware store with your idea in mind and ask them to cut the wood for you. This is part of their job and you are not normally charged for this. If you need racks and stands for the speakers, there are many online stores where these can be found new or second hand. Find the right racks that will compliment your TV stand and the furniture around the room. It is a simple task You will need L-brackets for the legs. Lay the legs on a flat surface and attach the brackets to each leg. Mark any holes and then drill pilot holes. Now attach the brackets and screw them into the legs. Depending on the amount of shelves you would like under the top panel, you will need to measure this accordingly and attach brackets to both legs. Many people will find it easy to purchase a TV mount and secure it to the wall, but not many people prefer television brackets.
Halfway there!
Once you have the bottom shelves in place for the DVD player, Bluray player and game console, all you have to do now is secure the top panel for the television. You will follow the same steps above to secure the top panel and your final piece. These are very simple instructions and if you are looking for a basic TV stand, this is perfect for any type of TV stand. Job done! You can decide on the colour of the TV stand. Depending on the wood, you can either apply clear polyurethane or paint it. Again, this will depend on the rest of your furniture. There are much more complicated ways of building a TV stand, but there are easier ways, too!
