James Cameron: biography

Acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron is hailed for his contribution to cinema. He has been making films since the late 1970s, and has been involved within many aspects of the industry, including: writing, producing, directing, editing, and even acting.

Beginnings

A Canadian by birth, Cameron was born in Ontario, Canada in 1954. He moved to the USA during his teens, and studied Physics at California State University. Jim Cameron's first major success in the film industry, was the epic science fiction movie The Terminator (1984), which he both wrote and directed. Since then, his film list has become extensive and impressive.

Career

Aliens (1986), Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991), Titanic (1997), and Avatar (2009) are some of the well-known films in his repertoire. Cameron has also ventured into television and documentaries, such as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009) and Expedition: Bismark (2002). Unlike many other directors, James Cameron fully invests himself within his movies, in terms of getting involved in the writing, the production, the shooting, and other aspects. This personal involvement creates a wondrous effect, and explains the success that he has enjoyed.
James' movies are famous for becoming huge box office hits, and the 3D Avatar has become the biggest grossing cinematic release ever, overtaking his own film Titanic. New Avatar films are on the way, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3, which are sure to be huge successes at movie cinemas.

Achievements

In terms of awards statues, James Cameron must have trouble housing them all. The man has won Oscars (all for Titanic), Golden Globes, Empire Awards, and a whole host of others, all attesting to the skill and devotion that Cameron puts into every film he makes. His other achievements include working on the Terminator Video Game Series, Archive Footage, and Cinematography. Cameron's most recent contribution to cinema was as a producer on the eerie Sanctum 3D (2010), which enjoyed mild success of the box office. With the Avatar movies fast approaching, viewers and fans can rest assured that more Cameron greatness is on the way, and in the meantime, they can visit official movie websites and the avatar site for more news, clips, and extras.
