Review: Survey Scout
Many people are looking for work at home income, such as earning money for surveys. While some legitimate sites provide small monetary incentives, others are scams. Survey Scout’s own site provides information that raises doubts. Hence, you must always be diligent before joining any such site.
Claims
Opening the site, it seems like easy money. Get paid for your opinion! Claims include: - “Take online surveys, and make from $1 to $15, or more” - “Participate in focus groups, and make up around $100 a day” - "Take phone surveys, and you can earn as much as $10 and hour” - “Try new products (and keep the free products too)” However, can you really take surveys and get paid?
Information from the site
Several links on the bottom, such as “Terms of Use” may raise red flags including: -Survey Scout is not responsible for anything on its site. -They do not guarantee the “accuracy, integrity or quality” of any content. -That you may be exposed to content, that is “offensive, indecent or objectionable." -They are not liable for “any loss or damage of any kind, as a result of the use of any Content . . . made available via the Service.”
Use of personal information and third parties
Examining Survey Scout’s privacy policy also may create doubts. It states that personal information is collected through surveys, registrations, and contests. Collected information is provided to third parties for marketing, and other purposes. This may result in members being bombarded with advertisements, offers, and phone solicitations (even if you are on the no call list). It further states that anything on the site you link to, is provided by third parties, so, Survey Scout is not responsible for links either. Finally, it warns that chat rooms or message-boards are not owned or controlled by Survey Scout. However, whatever you disclose on third parties can be used, based on third party privacy policies, which may permit all information to be disclosed to their own members. They warn that Survey Scout members may receive messages from strangers, or unsolicited third parties, thereby these activities cannot be controlled by Survey Scout.
Lack of legitimate consumer reviews
Attempting to locate consumer reviews, the only reports found, appeared to be the opinions of single individuals. They are either strongly in favour or against the site, blogs, similarly slanted or advertisements. None, however, appeared to provide an unbiased review by a recognised consumer review site. The best practice with any site claiming that you can get paid to take online surveys is to carefully read everything provided to make the best decision about joining. You can also read reviews of the site on the Internet. However, you must check the source to determine the legitimacy of the opinion.
