Who are The Lone Gunmen?

The Lone Gunmen are a group of three fictional characters that had frequent roles in the hit show, The X-Files. The same three also starred in their own short-lived spin-off, called The Lone Gunmen. Read the following article to know who are The Lone Gunmen.

Who are The Lone Gunmen

The trio The Lone Gunmen are three fictional characters namely John Fitzgerald Byers, Richard Ringo Langly, and Melvin Frohike. The three characters were played by Bruce Harwood, Dean Haglund, and Tom Braidwood, who were often called to assist The X-Files special agents. Roles The Lone Gunmen were devoted conspiracy theorists, computer hackers and government watchdogs who regularly helped Mulder and Scully in the X-Files. However, they also had time for their own adventures. News publication The Lone Gunmen produced a news publication called The Lone Gunmen. None of the trio had day jobs. Therefore, they relied on backers to support their conspiracy theory by providing financial assistance as well as the revenue that was created by those who subscribed to the paper. As well as sharing a loft apartment that also formed their work space, they had a 1973-79 VW Transporter to get around through the town.

The show

The Lone Gunmen TV show The Lone Gunmen was a spin-off TV show of the long-running TV series, The X-Files. Reviews First broadcast in March 2001, it received positive reviews. However, these reviews were short-lived. As a result, the programme was cancelled after its thirteenth episode, and was broadcast in June 2001. In order to resolve the cliffhanger at the end of the show, The X-Files focused on an episode entitled
'Jump the Shark' that formally closed The Lone Gunmen series. The end This brought about the death of The Lone Gunmen who saved the world by entrapping themselves with a deadly virus and a bioterrorist intent on harming the planet. Focus Unlike The X-Files, which dealt with government alien conspiracies and supernatural occurrences, The Lone Gunmen focused on plots, such as cheating husbands, corporate crime, government-sponsored terrorism, escaped Nazis and arms-dealers. First episode The first episode, which was broadcast on 04.04.01, involved a U.S. government conspiracy to hijack a plane before flying it into the World Trade Centre. Then, the plot went on to blame terrorists as a way of gaining much needed support for a profit-making war. Unknowingly, the plots of the first episode demonstrate uncanny parallels to the 9/11 events that took place six months after that the episode was aired.
