A guide to Hope International University

Hope International University is a private, Christian university, which now boasts almost 1700 students on its roll. Although officially non-denominational, the college has strong ties to the Restoration Movement and the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ, two American , post-Revival Christian movements. The college now consists of two schools, the Pacific Christian College and School of Graduate & Professional Studies. A guide to the college follows.

History & location

History Hope International was founded in November 1928 as Pacific Bible Seminary. The school then purchased property in Long Beach, California, in 1936, with the building of a new campus commencing in 1940. The college outgrew its location though, and moved to to Fullerton in 1973. By 1997, the institution had achieved university status, taking on the name of Hope International University as it did so. There are two separate schools which now make up Hope International University. The university's traditional undergraduate college is known as Pacific Christian College. There is also the the School of Graduate & Professional Studies, which offers opportunities for students to take advantage of on-site and online degree completion and certificate programs for adults, as well as graduate degree programs in education, management, marriage and family therapy and ministry. Location Pacific Christian College is situated at the college's main campus at Fullerton, in North Orange County, California. There is also the Orange Education Center, in the town of Orange itself, as well as its equivalent in Corona, known as the Corona Education Center. Further afield, there is also the Puget Sound Education Center, in Washington State.

Learning & lifestyle

Accreditation As far as the university's accreditation is concerned, Hope International University first received its accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 1969. It subsequently became a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in 1993. Programmes offered Each bachelor's degree offered at hope looks to build upon a foundation of Leadership & Ethics core classes. These include social sciences, humanities and communications, as well as natural science and biblical studies. The graduate programmes are offered via the School of Graduate Studies which offers convenient online and classroom learning options, tailored to fit into the schedules of both adults with full-time jobs, as well as full-time students. There are around 300 online courses available from the college. Mission statement The mission statement of the college is: "To empower students through Christian higher education to serve the Church and impact the world for Christ."
