Situated in Stephenville, Texas, Tarleton State University is a public university that is primarily known for its agricultural courses and degree programs. However, in addition to its Agriculture and Environmental Science College, Tarleton also offers degrees in business, education, science and technology and fine arts. The university has a total of 9,000 students enrolled in its courses from 19 different countries.

Academics

Courses offered
The university offers bachelors, masters and PhDs in addition to associate degrees. Bachelors can be taken in applied science, applied arts and science, technology, arts, business administration, fine arts, music, science, nursing and social work. In addition, the university offers masters in arts, science, business administration, education, criminal justice and PhDs in education and educational leadership. In total, there are 64 undergraduate, 22 masters and one doctoral courses on offer at the university. Faculty
There are more than 340 full-time faculty members working at the university which gives the institution a student-faculty ratio of 19:1. Online programs
For those who cannot take time off work to complete a degree Tarleton offers online degree courses in eight undergraduate programs as of 2011, in addition to five online masters programs.

Campus

Situation
The campus is set within 125 acres of wooded grounds featuring oak and pecan trees. It is located in the middle of the town of Stephenville which is 65 miles southwest of Fort Worth. The university's buildings are red brick in keeping with its traditional image and style. Sports Centre
The university boasts a 70,000 square foot recreation centre which comes with weight rooms, a fitness room complete with cardio equipment and a track room. In addition, there are also four racquetball courts a climbing wall and outdoor equipment for rent such as tents and kayaks. Halls of Residence
There are 10 on-site residential halls that students can choose from at Tarleton. Each comes equipped with cable TV and internet access in addition to fridge/freezers and a microwave. Laundry services are also available to all residents. Science Centre
Students also benefit from a $30.8 million science building and 64-seat planetarium complete with telescope. Moreover, the older science building includes a host of new laboratories and classrooms.
