A guide to booking Paris short breaks

With the world now a global village because of the internet and relatively cheap and easy travel, a Paris break or city holidays are fast becoming the choice of many tourists trying to snap up the cheapest holiday. This article is a guide to booking Paris short breaks.

Getting there

Paris is a bustling cosmopolitan metropolis of history, glamour and fashion, and it is very easy to get to the city directly from almost anywhere in the world. If it is a short stay over, then flights from Paris to other European destinations give the tourist another option. It is easy to fly directly to most of Europe and beyond from the city. If travelers fancy holidays in Rome afterward, they can check the offers online, book their Paris packages first, and then their next destination.

Sightseeing

The city has many hubs of activities but most planning their Paris weekends take a stroll down the prestigious and quite remarkable Avenue des Champs-Élysées, hoping to catch a glimpse of any celebrity frequenting the boutiques and malls, although the McDonald's fast food restaurant on the Avenue is a hit and miss with the locals and with those taking trips to Paris. At the western end of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées stands the Arc de Triomphe. It started construction in 1806 and was finished in 1836 in honour of all who have fallen for France and its glories. It also houses the body of The Unknown Soldier from World War One. It is only accessible from the Champs-Élysées and the Avenue de la Grande Armée entrances. The eastern end of the Avenue lies the Place de la Concorde and is one of Paris' largest public squares covering over 21 acres. Beyond that, on the right bank of the Seine is the Musée du Louvre, one of the world's largest museums. It houses the famous Mona Lisa and a plethora of rare art covering every great period the world has seen. Those with a penchant for the theatrical should visit the Moulin Rouge cabaret close to Montmartre. It can be seen with its neon signage and windmill on the roof and offers a range of musical and burlesque entertainment though there is no point for anyone spoiling what this great city has to offer.

Do it

You may forget weekend breaks to New York as Paris has to be seen to be experienced, and if it is done through a tour operator like Thomson breaks or direct, you will not be disappointed.
