A guide to the Capital Grille restaurant

The Capital Grille restaurant is a national chain of upscale steakhouses, with locations in 20 states and in the District of Columbia. The typical steakhouse menu features steaks of various cuts as well as a substantial variety of sea food choices. As a Four Star restaurant serving high quality food, Capital Grille is on the expensive side. The service is friendly and efficient, befitting a restaurant of this caliber.

About the company

History The Capital Grille originated in Providence in 1989 during a recession. Edward Grace the Third had the concept that even in economic hard times, businessmen and the political elite would respond to an upscale steakhouse - and they did. The chain expanded to Washington, D.C. and Boston, and the parent company went public in 1994. After changing the name to Rare Hospitality, the company was sold to Darden Restaurants in 2007. Darden is a large public company that operates in Red Lobster and Olive Garden chains. Capital Grille is now Darden's top-of-the-line eatery. Darden has bucked the trend of hard times for restaurants in the past few years. Locations Capital Grille restaurants are clustered in the north east and in Florida, with a smattering in the mid west, in the west coast, in Texas and in a few other places.
