All about: The mystery book club

The first book club was created by Harry Sherman who began the Little Leather Library in 1961. While this club did not last, the Book-of-the-Month Club, which Sherman helped to found in 1926, did. It was the first of many book clubs that spread around the world. The Mystery Book Club or the Mystery and Thriller Book Club is a UK club for mystery and thriller fans. The books

The Mystery Book Club offers a wide range of "mystery, thriller, adventure,
spine-chilling horror and supernatural books" by big-name authors such as Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, Ruth Rendell, Tom Clancy, etc. Along with these writers, other new and less known authors' works are offered as well. The books can be available as paperbacks as well as hardbacks. All the books, including mystery books and suspense novels, have been expertly selected by "editors who scrutinise every book published in your subject area." In the membership section, the list of categories expand and includes: "[a]ction and adventure, best sellers, crime, horror, psychological, thrillers, female authors, historical crime, investigative crime, elite combat, and fame and misfortune." There are "DVDs, videos, software, games, and music" to choose from as well. Your books will arrive up to 28 days after your order is placed.

The membership

It is only as a member of the Mystery Book Club that you get access to the site. With your membership, you will receive the club's colour publication. It is sent out
on a bi-monthly basis and it features the selections of the month. One of the titles which is featured in the publication, will receive the sought-after "Editor's Choice" acclaim. The membership will allow you to save 50 percent from the cover price of the book. You must be at least 18 years old to be a member. You must also be a resident of the United Kingdom.

How to join

The club accepts credit cards or you can send in a cheque. If you are not satisfied with the service, you can return your books and cancel your membership at any time. Joining the club means that you must buy at least one book from the publication which is sent to you bi-monthly. With your first order, you will receive an "introductory parcel of five books and free weekend bag". You will be charged 25 pence.
