Shasta is a California-based community college, that offers a variety of programs and services, including financial aid, art exhibits, lecture series, tutoring, veterans’ services, counseling, workshops, cultural events, workshops, and student activities.

Academics, Freshman Fast Track, and international students

Established in 1948, the college is a part of the California Community College system, which is regarded as the world’s biggest system of higher education.
Academic divisions The college currently has nine academic divisions, namely, Arts, Communications and Social Sciences, Business, Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Distance Education, Economic and Workforce Development, Health Sciences and University Programs, Library, Natural Resources, Industry, and Public Safety, Physical Education and Athletics and Science, Language Arts and Math. Degrees and certificates Shasta College offers around 850 certificate and degree programs. Shasta College certificate and associate courses include, 49 certificate, 24 university studies associate degree emphases, 22 general studies associate degree emphases, and 33 associate degree majors. Distance education With the college’s distance education program, students would not need to travel anymore to the main campus for their classes. The college uses a variety of formats in delivering their distance education program, which includes Internet-based, two-way interactive television, and live instructions. Shasta college's online program uses the Moodle learning management system. Freshman Fast Track The Freshmen Fast Track Registration Program of the college gives local high school seniors the opportunity to register early (May) for college courses that will begin in August. International students The college accepts international students. Foreign applicants can choose to enroll in either fall or spring classes. Before they can be admitted by the college, overseas students are required to obtain qualifying scores in certain English proficiency tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS, and STEP Eiken.

Financial aid programs that the Shasta College currently offers include the Board of Governor's Fee Waiver Program (BOGFW), Federal Pell Grant Program (FPELL), Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal College Work Study (FCWS), Cal-Grant Program, Chafee Grant Program for Foster Youth, and Federal Direct Loan Program. Athletics Students in the college can indulge in a number of sports, such as baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and wrestling.
