Babson college: A guide

Babson College is a private business college located in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Dating back to 1919 and known originally as the Babson Institute, the college is home to around 3,500 students studying both undergraduate BA and postgraduate MBA programmes.

Academics

Courses offered Prospective students can choose between undergraduate BS degrees or postgraduate MS and MBA degrees, the latter of which are taught through its F.W Olin Graduate School of Business. The college also offers companies the opportunity to send employees on one of its executive educational programmes. Undergraduate programmes Students on undergraduate programmes are expected to take part in the Foundation of Management and Entrepreneurship, which is a year-long course designed to immerse students in the business world. By the end of the year, they will have launched, developed and liquidated their own company. Students also learn accounting, economics, finance, marketing, operations and organisational behaviour during their studies. MBAs Students can choose between four different MBA programmes. The first is an accelerated full-time one-year course aimed at postgraduates business students or those with at least two-years of work experience. The second is a full-time two-year modular programme, while the third is an evening MBA programme which students can apply immediately to their working life. It also offers a part-time fast track Babson MBA that combines classroom and distance learning enabling student to gain a full MBA while working at the same time. Ranking According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Babson College is the 39th best business college in the US while its undergraduate programme is the 17th best overall nationally. US News and World Report ranked the college's MBA programme as the best in terms of entrepreneurship in the whole country. Its is surely an accolade that it had won for 18 consecutive years by 2011.

Campus

The campus life Set among 300 acres of rolling woodland, Babson College's campus is home to a number of buildings and educational centres. Student life revolves around the Donald W Reynolds Campus Center which houses the Office of Campus Life, the college bookstore, cafes, meeting rooms, ATMs and an outdoor patio. In addition, students can make use of the Richard W Sorenson Center for the Arts where they can get involved in a range of artistic pursuits from photography and ceramic design to theatre production and set design. The Horn Library also provides students with the research tools to complete their undergraduate or MBA programmes.
