Positive points
There is a large range of apartments in Houston, so you can find something which suits you, depending upon your budget or party size. Apartments have a much more 'home from home' feeling than hotels, so if you are travelling with your family or just want to feel more relaxed on business trips, then they are a good choice. As they come with kitchen facilities, you are also able to cook your own food. This can keep the cost down if you are travelling with kids, and stop the boredom of always eating out alone if you are on business trip.
Negative points
Choosing a hotel in Houston means that you are usually guaranteed the prime locations and the best facilities. This isn't always the case with apartments and you do not have a reception desk or concierge on hand to help you. They also do not provide lounges or conference rooms if you need meeting space for business.
Lack of leisure facilities
If you enjoy using the leisure facilities or spa at hotels, then you probably will not enjoy staying in an apartment either as most do not have access to a swimming pool or gym. There usually will not be an on-site restaurant either, although many will have good places nearby.
