Fun art projects for kids

There are many fun art projects to plan for a child, but perhaps one of the easiest, and most enjoyed art activities for a child, is painting. Aside from a paintbrush, there are many ways to create art activities, by using paint. The following article will describe some painting ideas for arts and crafts at home for kids of all ages, including activities for toddlers.

Painting material and set-up

Before beginning crafts with paint-at-home, setting up an area ahead where some spills can occur, is a good idea. An easel is the best, but tables covered with protective material is efficient. Toddlers can work in a high chair to create art. Smocks to protect children's clothing can be created by using father's old shirt worn backwards. Don't forget to cover the floor area as well. Washable liquid tempera paint, found in most craft stores works best for young kids and paint trays or containers should be established. Clean styrofoam grocery trays work well. Prepared pieces of paper is also a crucial step for setting-up painting with young children, along with a space for the paintings to dry.

Household paint stamps

As stated, painting does not have to end with a paintbrush. There are other ways children can create masterpieces with paint. One of the most enjoyed activities for young children is to use material which create designs. Manufactured paint stamps can be bought at craft stores in many different styles, but they can also easily be found within our homes. With paint in a shallow tray, and a big piece of paper, here are some ideas for children and parents to choose from: 1. apples cut in half 2. cookie cutters 3. sponges 4. small balloons partially blown 5. old kitchen utensils, such as spatulas or potato mashers 6. potatoes in half with shapes carve-out

Three fun ways to create paint art

Some other ways to create fun projects by using paint, is to find ways for children to spread the paint around the paper. One great way, which is appropriate for toddlers, especially young boys, is to allow them to drive toy cars, through small amounts of paint on paper. Another fun painting activity is to place large marbles or golf balls with some paint into a shoe box, where a piece of paper is attached to the bottom. The children can shake the box, and the marble will spread the paint around. Lastly, an old salad spinner is a fun way to paint. The paper is taped to the bottom of the spinner, which should be placed into a container or box to collect leakage. Two spoonfuls of paint colours are placed inside, and the kids can spin to create art.
