Top four cities to visit
With the opening up of Eastern Europe, there are now more places to visit than ever, so how do you choose where to go?
London
England's capital has everything from Royal palaces to beautiful gardens to fantastic shopping and wild night-life.
There are many cheap holiday deals in the UK which feature London and include hotel bookings and a night out.
Things to do include visiting Harrods, seeing the changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace, going to Madame Tussaud's waxworks and seeing the ravens at the Tower of London.
Paris
Capital of France and famous for the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame cathedral, Paris is said to be the most romantic city in the world.
Cheap Paris breaks can be found with a bit of careful research on the internet and, of course, Paris can be reached from London with the high speed rail link through the Channel Tunnel.
Travellers on holiday in Paris should visit the Louvre Museum, home of the enigmatic Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo sculpture, the Opera House and the Museé D'Orsay art museum, amongst the other sights of the city.
Rome
The Italian capital is a wonderful mix of ancient architecture with modern city living.
Trips to Rome should include visits to the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps.
Rome features on the stop off list for many of the short cruises that sail around the Mediterranean.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam holidays are becoming increasingly popular and not just because of the fame of its red light district.
Ferries to Holland travel frequently from the UK, France and Belgium. Amsterdam is a city of canals and bicycles, perfect for a weekend break.
Visit the Rijksmuseum art gallery, the Royal Palace and Anne Frank's house.
Other cities to see
Prague
Flights to Prague have become much cheaper and the capital of the Czech Republic is a popular spot for stag nights and hen parties.
The must see on a Prague holiday is the magnificent castle, but make time for Wenceslas Square and the old town.
Copenhagen
Scandinavian cruises are very popular and most call in at Denmark's capital city, home of the famous Little Mermaid statue.
This young, vibrant city has much to offer the visitor, including the Tivoli Gardens that inspired Walt Disney.
Last word
European cities have so much to offer, make time for a short break now.
