How to draw funny cartoons?

Drawing decent cartoon faces can be very tricky for some people and making them look funny can be even trickier. This article provides you with a step-by-step drawing guide on how to draw a funny cartoon picture of a human face.

Starting off

Start the sketch off by drawing a very small circle towards the top of the page. This will form the eye of the face. Next, draw a curved line coming off the circle in the shape of a hook. This will be the cartoon's nose.

Completing the eyes

Draw another circle just to the right of the first one, this time not complete, but as if it were covered by the other circle. These now form the eyes and you can complete the eyes by adding dots for pupils and even eye lashes if you wish.

The mouth

Draw a line extending from the bottom-middle of the nose. Make sure to make it slightly curved, but not too curved in order to form the upper lip. Now, draw another line from the previous one, longer, but still with a slight curve. Finally, draw a half-circle on the bottom of the longer line and the mouth is now completed.

Jaw and ears

Draw a line extending from the right of the mouth, still connecting with the lip, into a curve that reaches back up to the level of the nose. This is the chin and jaw. Draw a small curve with ends inside going past the jaw line, serving as the ear.

Completing the head

Draw another line up from the top of the ear above the eyes and back down to where the two eyes meet. This is the top of the head. Draw a tiny curve inside of the ear curve to complete the ear.

Hair

Now that the head shape is complete, you can add hair to your cartoon. Obviously, you can add any style of hair that you wish and in any colour that you wish, but it is an idea to make sure that it does not obstruct the face too much.

Finishing

Colour the cartoon in any way that you want and add any further details that you may wish to draw, such as jewellery or make-up etc. Your face is now done.
