Do you have the skill
Talent
In many cases, talent is a gift and not something you learn. Art is no different. The talent of drawing pictures or the imagination to make cartoons is something to cultivate. Most people like to have things to draw or doodle but this does not always transcend into a professional career.
Desire
Being a talented artist with the ability to draw or illustrate is one thing. Cultivating the talent into a profession is something entirely different. If a individual does not have the passion or desire to move into a professional career as an artist, then all the coaxing or tutoring in the world will not make it happen. They have to want it for themselves and be willing to pursue it.
How do you know
You’ll know you have the talent to grow and learn and to take on the level of professionalism based on what you produce your desire level and willingness to sacrifice. Not everyone can learn to draw like a professional and even those with the talent may not be able to either. If your drawings and illustration speak to people, get noticed or you just know they are special, then you will know.
