How to find someone's email address

There are numerous ways to find an email address. Even though there is no central database that contains all the mail addresses of people, there are alternative methods that you can use in order to find someone's email address. If you want to discover how to get access to email addresses, keep on reading.

Use the search engines

You can start by searching the person’s name and variations of their names on search engines such as Google and Yahoo. If their names are unusual, then your task will be easier. It would be helpful to put their first and last name inside quotation marks in order to narrow down the results. By placing their full name inside quotation marks, Google will search the name as a whole instead of isolating the surname and the first name.

Check their website

If the individual whom you are looking for owns a website, then finding out his/her email address is relatively easy. Just visit the person's web address, and try looking for a page with the title ‘Contact’ or ‘Contact Us’. If there is no such page, you can fill out the web contact form instead. Alternatively, you can enter the domain name in the Network Solutions WHO IS database, and see if his/her email is listed there.

Search email directories

There are some directories online that allow you to search for someone’s email address. One such email searcher is Yahoo People Finder which is not limited to Yahoo emails. Simply enter the individual's first name and last name and click the button "Go", and the directory will give you a list of email matches associated with the name that you entered. Other examples of email directories include: “Switchboard”,
“Mesa – MetaEmailSearchAgent” and “WhoWhere?”. The email databases of these directories consist of members' addresses and email lists that the directories have bought, and email addresses that might fit. So, if the directory fails to find an exact match, it may look for variations of the email address. If for example, you are looking for “Kate Jones”, you may get back "jonesk" or "katej". In case you are really desperate to get in touch with someone, you could send an email to every address listed, but keep in mind that this could be considered as a form of spamming.
