LG Chocolate phones: Review and rate

Mobile phones are one of the most popular commodities of the modern world. The trouble is surely picking one out of the many thousands, that reside in the market. LG Chocolate phones have been available at mobile companies, such as Phones for you for a while now, but how do they stack-up against other phones? This article examines the KG800 and the BL 40.

KG800

The name "Chocolate" is meant to symbolise a greater connection between the user and their gadget. The focus is very much on the style and aesthetic, rather than specific quality or ability. In this sense, the KG800 works as it is a very sleek phone, that is easy on the eye, but it achieves this by compromising other areas. Heat-sensitive
The KG800 is heat-sensitive, meaning that it can't be accidentally activated while sitting in your pocket or in a bag, which is a nice touch. However, the control system isn't the easiest to navigate, with a certain degree of thumb skill required to hit the intended menus with consistent accuracy. Camera and memory There is a camera attached to the phone, but it can only shoot a rather disappointing 1.3mp. This is a low figure as compared to some of the other phones out there. Memory storage is reasonable at 128mb, but it is not enough to consider using the phone as a standalone multimedia device. The rest of the phone's features are fairly standard, with an alarm clock, unit converter and calendar amongst the additional tools. Battery life The phone is supposed to last for 200 hours, or roughly three hours, and 20 minutes of talking time. There is no speaker-phone function, and grease attracts to the screen like a magnet. These are all flaws that bring the ultimate score down. Hence, it is a decent option, but not an outright winner.

BL40

The BL40 is a step-up from the LG KG800, and while it has similar technical limitations, it achieves more in comparison to its rival. Like the KG800, the BL40 is small as a sleet, with dimensions of 128 x 51 x 11mm. It looks stylish, and the wide-screen is a nice touch, making it one of the nicer looking phones on the market. The glass case not only adds to the style, but keeps scratches to a minimum, leaving the 800 x 345 pixel screen, looking at its very best throughout. Camera The camera is one of the phone's best features, with an array of easy-to-use options and controls. It also has a 640 x 480 video option. The BL40 is fully 3G, and also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS, making for a solid all-round package.
