Mountain biking in Coed Y Brenin

The facilities

The park is maintained by the forestry commission and is designed for mountain bikers of all levels. Facilities - On-site facilities include showers, toilets, disabled toilets and baby changing rooms. - There is adequate parking on a pay-and-display basis. - A visitor centre shop offers maps information and souvenirs. - A cafe offers hot and cold food as well as drinks and snacks. - A picnic area situated near the visitor centre. - For mountain bikers, there is a coin-operated jet wash available to clean the bikes after use. Bike rental Bikes for different off road disciplines are available for hire through the shop Beics Brenin, prices vary depending on the bikes specifications. Children's and adult bikes are available and all hired bikes come with a helmet. The same shop has a fleet of Cytech-trained (industry recognised training) mechanics who offer repairs, and the shop also stocks bike parts and clothing.

The trails

Situated in the Welsh Mountains, the park offers stunning views of snowdonia and a varied level of bike trails, all fully maintained for safety. The main tracks are listed below, but the park has a number of smaller MTB trails, and even some walking trails available for people who do not want to ride. Trail types There are three main types of trails which are the - Green trail It is classed as easy, and suited for beginners and family rides.Yr Afon falls under this category taking in the views of the river Mawddach and the gold mines of Gwynfynedd. It is 10.8km long. Red trail It is classed as difficult, which is more suited to people who have good off-road riding skills. There are technical sections throughout the course. Tracks that fall into this category are Temtiwr, Dragons Back and Cyflym Coch. The tracks are 8.7km, 31.1km and 10.8km long. Black trail It is classed as severe, which is more suited to expert-level mountain biking. With drops and downhill sections throughout the course, it is considered a greater challenge than the above trails. MBR, tarw and Beast of Brenin are all classed as Black trails. The tracks are 18.4 km, 20.2km and 38.2km long.
