All My Children
All My Children
All My Children is a long running soap that started in 1970.
The show is set in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. One of the main characters is Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci.
The show started as a light hearted soap opera that dealt with social issues and problems faced by young people.
The show featured a named the Martin Family, and a rich snob named Phoebe. Another main character is Mona Kane, a single mother, and her daughter Erica Kane.
All My Children was announced to be cancelled in 2011 .

General Hospital
Overview
General Hospital launched in 1963 and is the longest running soap which is still currently in production.
The show is set in a general hospital in Port Charles.
The main character was Dr Steve Hardy and Nurse Jessie Brewer.
Audrey March was introduced as a flight attendant who wins Steve's heart. Other characters included Meg Bentley, mother of Scotty and stepmother to troubled Brooke.
Diana Taylor was the centre of a love triangle between Dr Peter Taylor and Dr Phil Brewer. The all time favourite General Hospital couple, however, were Luke and Lara.
Interesting fact
The wedding of Luke and Laura in 1981 was the most watched event in daytime serial history.

One Life to Live
One Life to Live is set in a fictional suburb of Philadelphia. The Lord family forms the centre of this soap opera.
The character of Victoria Lord is the centre point of the show. Victoria, better known as Viki, is the long suffering heroine and her character has suffered from just about everything.
Interesting fact
Erica Slezak who played Victoria Lord on the show won a record six Daytime Emmy Awards for her role.
