Mission
Monroe County Community College sets out to provide a comprehensive range of educational programs for the residents of Monroe County. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of The North Central Association, Monroe College, provides a consistently high level of education.
Undergraduate courses
Monroe College undergraduate courses include, Accountancy, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science subjects, Culinary skills and Management, Construction Studies, Law, Psychology, Engineering subjects, Technical Training, Automotive Engineering, Administration Subjects and Graphic Design.
Community outreach program
Monroe College also prides itself in the following community outreach programs. Online Learning Monroe College provides over 40 online courses. The most popular courses are Accountancy, Business Management, Economics, Information Technology, Business Writing, Mathematics, Sociology and Psychology.
E-learning purpose
The purpose of the e-learning education centre is to provide academic outreach to the local community, whereby students can learn in a flexible manner with studies fitting in around their lifestyle. Online education also reduces the cost of education.
Lifelong learning
This is a non-credit orientated education, which provides outreach to the greater community in a broad manner. Some of the common ones include Sports/Recreation/Physical Education, Medical Health and Wellness, Business and Professional Development.
The Whitman Centre
This provides a wide range of courses for personal interest such as digital photography, arts and craft classes and organic farming for instance.

Strategic Plan
From 2010 to 2013, Monroe College will be undergoing restructuring. In an effort to improve the overall quality of their educational offering, Monroe College, has highlighted some priorities, which it intends to develop over the next few years such as educational excellence, evidence based culture, resource management, governance, partnerships and admissions procedure.
Liberal approach
Monroe College believes in a liberal approach to college application. It does not discriminate against age, race or marital status. The minimum admission standards are listed here as:
- minimum age of 18
- students must either be school graduates or have completed the General Education Development Test (GED) in order to gain entry into MCCC
- students must provide all high school educational transcripts
- all students who want advanced standing in a particular course must provide all previous college transcripts.
