Format and content

A case study format can be roughly divided into three sections namely – Introduction, Problems and or sub-problems, Analysis and discussion. The introduction provides insight into the various characteristics of the case study like the main concerns, the stakeholders, and the scope of investigation to be undertaken. The introduction also helps the reader understand the tools that may be required for analysis and data requirements for the case. The next stage is the problem statement. It helps a reader to understand the results and determine whether they are consistent, reasonable and meaningful. This section also deals with sensitivity analysis, feasibility of the results, presentation and possible application.

Good case studies take the reader through several pieces of information and enable them to find appropriate solutions to the problem in the case.
